Bound By Books December 2013 and January 2014 shows!

We’re playing a little catch-up on posting our show archive links. So here are a whole bunch of our end of 2013 and start of 2014 shows for you to enjoy!

On the June 10th broadcast of Bound By Books, Ingrid, Antonia, and Em each read their birth month segment from birthday boy Maurice Sendak’s Chicken Soup With Rice. Em talked about the graphic novel Primates: The Fearless Science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey and Biruté Galdikas by Jim Ottaviani and Maris Wicks, Antonia talked about A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, and Ingrid talked about John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars.

On the June 17th broadcast of Bound By Books, Shannekia joined Antonia, Ingrid, and Jeana to talk about BOOKS (shocking, we know)! Jeana talked about The Beginning of Everything (formerly titled Severed Heads, Broken Hearts) by Robyn Schneider, Shannekia talked about After by Francine Prose, and Antonia and Ingrid talked more about their recent reads: A Clockwork Orange and The Fault in Our Stars. The crew also talked about movie adaptations of books, the Battle of the Books, Emily’s cat, Max Irons, and other very important things.

On last week’s Bound By Books, Antonia, Jeana, and Em talked about the Hudson Children’s Book Festival (which was FABULOUS!). Jeana talked about Stolen by Lucy Christopher and Em talked about Game by Barry Lyga. Antonia read a sample from Stolen and Emily read the first chapter of Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave. Bound By Books: April 15, 22, and 29 Shows!

Time is flying by! We’re playing a little catch up on our radio show posts, so here are the final three April show archives. In April, Antonia read and discussed Under the Light by Laura Whitcomb, a companion novel to Whitcomb’s A Certain Slant of Light. Under the Light is set to be published May 14. Jeana discussed Spite Fences by Trudy Krisher (April 15 show) and Right Behind You by Gail Giles (April 22 show). Ingrid discussed The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan (April 29 show), the second book in The Kane Chronicles series. Em discussed Wandering Son by Shimura Takako (April 15 show), Game by Barry Lyga (April 22 show), and Winger by Andrew Smith (April 29 show), which is set to release May 14. The girls also discussed the Red Hook Literary Festival which they attended in April and the (at the time upcoming) Hudson Children’s Book Festival which they attended May 4. They also discussed other things like cute boys, comic books, their dislike of Kale (except Em who loves it), gardening, and fun with vocabulary words!

The girls came up with the book idea on the way home from an author talk at Oblong Books in Rhinebeck featuring YA author, Marissa Meyer, and wrote the opening chapter during an epic sleepover party.

Jeana also talked about the second book in Ally Condie’s Matched Series, Crossed, and Em talked about two graphic novels, Binky the Space Cat by Ashley Spires and Runaways Vol. 1: Pride and Joy by Brian K.
